Taxi from Orlando Airport

Official taxis are available at all three MCO passenger terminals. At Terminal A, taxis use the Ground Transportation Curb on Level 1 at spaces A22–A25; Terminal B taxis use Level 1 at spaces B30–B34. At Terminal C, taxis are located on the Arrivals Curb on Level 6.

A particularly important MCO-specific pricing rule is that airport taxis do not use authorized flat fares. Orlando International Airport states that taxicabs picking up at MCO are regulated under the City of Orlando’s Vehicle-for-Hire ordinance and fares must be determined by a taximeter. The airport explicitly states that flat-rate taxi fees are not authorized.

The airport also states that taxis may carry up to nine passengers and charge the same metered rate regardless of passenger count.

Ride-share is separate from the taxi system. MCO currently recognizes services including Uber, Lyft, Wingz and KreweCar, with terminal-specific pickup locations.

Private Transfer vs Taxi and Public Transport

Brightline is particularly relevant when continuing from MCO toward South Florida, rather than as transportation to local Orlando hotels and attractions. Shuttle and resort services provide another alternative for destinations they specifically serve.

The appropriate choice depends on destination, luggage, group size, budget and preference for direct versus connecting transportation.

Tips for Your Orlando Airport Transfer

Confirm your MCO terminal before arrival because Terminals A/B and Terminal C use different levels for taxis, ride-share and other ground transportation.

Enter your complete hotel, resort or street address when booking rather than simply “Orlando.” The region includes Downtown Orlando, International Drive, convention areas, theme-park districts and communities spread across Central Florida, so destination details materially affect your transportation options.

If you plan to use public transportation, remember that Brightline is not a local airport-to-theme-parks train. Local LYNX buses provide connections to destinations including Downtown Orlando, Destination Parkway and the Orange County Convention Center, while SunRail requires a bus connection from MCO to Sand Lake Road station.

For return road transfers, allow appropriate time for Central Florida traffic and airline check-in procedures.

About Orlando International Airport

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the principal airport serving Orlando and one of the main gateways to Central Florida’s hotels, convention facilities, theme-park areas and cruise connections. The airport has three passenger terminals—A, B and C—so arriving passengers should confirm their terminal before following ground-transportation signs.

Terminals A and B share the older main terminal complex.
